Quilled Shamrock Shaker Card

Hi all!  Back again with another of the February Custom Quilling DT projects.  This card is not only green in color it is "green" because I recycled the acrylic packaging to make my shaker container.  This one was perfect to hold the bejeweled quilled three leaf clover as shakers.  I adhered the four leaf clover to the center of the shaker container along with the shiny green metallic clover so there would be a focus in the space.  The other shaker elements are light green metallic micro beads that get caught in the quills and tumble all around with the three quilled shamrocks.

The bow has two three leaf clover's dangling to give even more movement on the card.  If the glittery designer paper wasn't enough bling, I added a green crystals to every shamrock and the scallops on the outside ring. Shiny and sparkly! You can click on the image to enlarge it.

The Four Leaf Clover Seeds treat box above is the third project for the CQ Newsletter.  I made the medallion with my Just Rite Round stamper and font set and layered it onto Nestie scallops and circles. The February projects were made with supplies that come in the February Custom Quilling Kit.  You will love the lovely "wink" and generous shades of green card stock and 1/8" quilling strips. Check it out on the CQ site  You can see the four leaf clover "seeds" through the shamrock cut outs on each side.  If you would like to have the pattern/instructions for this little box just hop on over to Custom Quilling and Denise will email you the FREE PATTERN!

I hope you enjoyed the green CQ projects this month and I'd love to see yours!  Leave a link to your green projects in the comments!  Sorry for any misspelling's, I updated the posting option in blogger and now there are some editing options missing, including, unfortunately, the spell checker!!!!!  Until the next post,

Shalom,

Sonya

Emma the Snow Angel

Hi all, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving enjoying time friends and family! I wanted to share with you one of Fred She Said's newest digi images, Emma the Snow Angel. She is so cute and fun to color! I knew when I saw her that there was going to be some sort of shaker card involved because of the snow aspect. I didn't realize that the image was to big to make the shaker out of my Nesties until after I colored her, I should have resized it and tested it before I colored it. So I just made the shaker out of the sentiment and kept Emma the size she was and matted her on a scalloped Nestie circle.
*
There is always someone special who deserves a thank you this time of year so I decided to print out the sentiment "Thanks, you're an angel" to go with Emma. The "snow" in the shaker box is made out of styrofoam ball shavings and clear chunky glitter and you can see how it is made here. I wish it would snow here in Houston, I would love to see my grandkids making snow angels! Hope on over to Fred She Said and see the other new digi image releases. And, if you make a card or project out of Emma the Snow Angel post it in the comments section at the bottom of this post so we can all see and enjoy! I have some quilled projects to post, so check back tomorrow!

2000 View Blog Candy!

It's almost there, the 2000 view of my blog! In honor of all of you who drop by to see what is new, I am giving away this card as Blog Candy! To have a chance at winning this card leave a comment and when the counter hits 2000 I will post the random generated number for whose comment is the winner out of all who have left a comment that day! The winner will be posted on this post so check back and see if you have won!

I have wanted to do a shaker card for some time now and I thought that the 2000 view would be a great time to do so. The card base is a blue shimmer card stock from Bazzill. I used my scallop and circle Nestabilities to cut out the darker blue frame from cardstock. Then I used the same scallop to cut a piece of transparency and adhered it to the back of the blue frame.
*
Next I water colored a background for the fish and cut it out with a circle Nestie. The fish were stamped in Stazon black on watercolor paper and water colored with markers. They are accented with glitter glue and were cut out. Next I quilled the kelp in a dark green using the wheatear/looped technique. The fish have dimensionals and are layered amongst the wheatear kelp on the watercolor circle background.
*
I put a ring of double sided foam along the back of the blue card stock/transparency frame and when that was done I poured some of the blue and green metallic micro beads in it as the "shakers". Then the fish background was attached to the blue frame sealing in the beads.

The sentiment and fish were from the Ocean Friends stamp set from Kim Hughes and can be found at Cornish Heritage Farms and Ellen Hutson. The sentiment was stamped in Tim Holtz's Distressed ink, Denim, and was cut out and layered with the Nestabilities label dies. I tied a sheer blue/green bow and attached a green crystal brad at the knot. Inside the card I stamped from the same set, the wave in Brilliance tri-color blue/greens stamp pad, and then put the seahorse, colored the same as the fish, on top. Lastly, I used iridescent glitter glue to adhere the three clear Dew Drops "bubbles" near the top.
*
I had fun doing this card and it was easy! I will have to make another for the grand kids, they would love it. So leave a comment for a chance to win it! Thanks to all who drop by!

Until tomorrow to see who is the winner,
