Go Green with Custom Quilling February Newsletter!

Hi all, back again with the quilling projects from the Custom Quilling February Newsletter.  This month features Green!  There are lots of beautiful shades of green quilling strips and card stock that can be made into lots of great projects!  I have posted the next installment of the calendar series for March that I have made for Newsletter this month.  There are more project to see in the February Newsletter that I will share later this week, and there are two free patterns in it for you to enjoy!  Sue has created a super Irish Blessing Plaque that features her awesome roses, I wish I could get mine to come out as great as hers!! Maybe one day she can show me how!! You can see all of our projects for inspiration using this months Custom Quilling Kit, click on the link above.

Now for the March Calendar page details.  With all the clover blooming in my yard this month I chose to use it as the natural theme for March.  The calla lilies are floral punched and have flocked stamens.  The clover are quilled and have a seed bead for their centers.  I also added clover blossoms that are fringe flowers shaded at the bottom with light green and pushed up from the bottom like quilled grape rolls.

Short post for today, hop on over to Custom Quilling at the link above to see all the goodies in the Newsletter and go green!

Shalom,

Sonya
Thanks for all the sweet comments, I love to hear from you!!

Crazy Quilt Card 2 Sketches 4 You Challenge

Hi all!  Another card for a challenge!  This challenge is for the 2Sketches4You site, and you are to use the sketch below.  The prize is Just Rite Stamps, yes, I am trying to win more of these wonderful stamps!  If I win, hope, hope, I will be able to get just about ALL the Just Rite Stamps that I would absolutely love to have!!!! The project designs on my "want to do" list using the Just Rite Stamps is long, but I have to wait until I am able to get them (or WIN them!!! lol).  Click on the pictures to enlarge.

I made my background paper to resemble a crazy quilt and paper pieced it with different papers.  It is embellished like a cazy quilt with trims, beads, pearls, embroidery and charms.  I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Antique Linen to give it a vintage feel. The inside of the card also had a paper pieced fan quilt.  Using my Nesties I matted the sentiment that says "Life is a crazy quilt" in several fonts, the inside sentiment continues with "Embellish it with love!".  This is where I would have loved to have the JR horizontal stamp block and several of the fonts.  I could have stamped and embossed the sentiments using them!  They make composing your own sentiments easy.

2Sketches4You is a new site (for me) that I have found and am not through exploring and I love the challenges and sketches that inspire my card making! Deadline for entry is January 30 midnight MST, so hop on over and play along with this great sketch. I do have some quilling in the works, but you will have to wait until the first of the month to see it.  Until the next post,

Shalom,

Sonya

Fred She Said January Challenge!

Hi all, it's Monday and time for January's Fred She Said Challenge!  I have posted my card for inspiration and you can see all of the design team's challenge inspiration creations on the Fred She Said Challenge Blog.  Here is the inside of my card:

I used the FSS images Polka Dotty Flowers and Fred's Flowers v.3 and Whirly Flowers.  My card has the yellow polka dotty flower, three layers for my focal flower and then colored, in my paint program, and printed out a sheet of the purple Fred's Flowers.  The polka dotty flower has been embellished with white holo glitter on the polka dots and the purple flowers have a green crystal for their centers.  All flowers petals were shaped and three purple petals were cut apart and attached with a brad in the corners.

Tracey has so many wonderful digi images and designer papers that can be resized, printed multiple times on a page, printed on card stock, vellum, watercolor paper, designer paper etc to color as your imagination can come up with!  She also has a great selection of pre-colored images ready to use!

Here are the details of the CHALLENGE:

The challenge for this month is...

Use the FSS challenge blog header and background as inspiration for your card, layout or altered project.

Cherry Blossom Card

Hi, all!  Monday is Fred She Said Challenge Day, you can hop on over to the FSS Challenge Blog to see the challenge on Monday and enter your FSS card for a chance to win! You will also see what the DT has made for your inspiration there.  But for today I have a card made from the new FSS release Cherry Blossom, isn't she soo cute!

I also used the FSS designer papers and edged the black and white flowers with my gold pen.  It made it look like washi paper and the download  DP comes in several color combos of this pattern!

Cherry Blossom is colored in Prismacolor pencils and OMS, her dress has gold and glittered cherry blossoms on it, along with the glittery blossoms in the trees.

You can find the images here. Don't forget the January FSS Challenge Monday on the FSS Challenge Blog!  I can't wait to see what you have created!!!

Thanks for all your sweet comments for the first FSS Blog Hop and be sure to check the FSS Blog to see who has won!

See you Monday with my Challenge Inspiration Card.

Rachel's Album - Just Rite Challenge JRC 001

Hi all, Wow that was such a fun Blog Hop!!! You still have until January 22 to hop and find all the code words to enter for a chance to win some great Fred She Says digi images! See the Blog Hop Post below and hop along! Thanks for ALL your sweet and very encouraging comments on the new FSS designs, I have read and appreciate all of them!
*
Today's project took me a little longer than I thought it would, the reason this post is a day or so later than I wanted it. But, here it is, an album made for the Just Rite Stamps Challenge JRC 001. With this challenge you get a chance to win a $50.00 gift certificate to the Just Rite Store!!!! I have only a few Just Rite sets and I REALLY want the new ones!!!! So I hope I win!  EDITED TO ADD:  I'm doing the happy dance, I WON!!!!  Thanks, Just Rite Stamps!!!!  Now to decide what new stamps I will get?????
*
You have to use one of their font sets in a project and this album came to mind. I had to make some adjustments here and there in my original design, and it also came out larger than my minds eye pictured it, 8 1/2" x 16". But it has plenty of room for pictures or keepsakes. I didn't have any 16" paper for the pages of the album so I just staggered the 8 1/2" down and it worked perfectly.

Each page has a lettered medallion with adjectives that start with that particular letter, describing my daughter. You can see the close ups of each letter below. The front is decorated with scalloped Nestie flowers and a vine ribbon.

It was fun making it but as I said, it took a little longer than I had thought it would, partly because I kept adding "details" and layers to give it a vintanegy feel! I hope my daughter likes it. Two down, one to go on the daughter's projects! Now to clean up the paper scraps and put everything back to order on my craft table!!!

*
"Welcome to the first "FRED SHE SAID" blog hop!!! If you just happen to drop by my blog and you are not aware of this wonderful event taking place, please go back to the "FRED SHE SAID" blog here and start your hop! You are in for some awesome eye candy from my sister DT members made with the new releases from Fred She Said. They will be sure to get your inspiration going full speed!
*
Please, we would LOVE it if you commented on our posts. We totally love "Fred She Said" images and would like to hear how you feel about them too! Also, along the way, you will see a special CODE WORD on each blog. Collect them all up! Once you reach the end of the blog (which will be the "Fred She Said" Challenge blog), email DEANNE with the special code sentence and your name will go in for a draw for the 4 newest releases -Flowers, Doodledallion, Empty Pockets, and Smelling the Cherry Blossoms.
*
Here are my "Fred She Said" creations, I choose to use the EMPTY POCKETS designs:
*
Inside view of above:

This digi set comes in a girl and a boy version, complete with very cute sentiments! I love this set, well actually, all of them!! When I showed this card to my DH he said that it looked just like our oldest grandson, I agree! The sentiment was to close to home as I celebrated my 50th this month and the cake couldn't hold the candles!!! Wait, I can't believe I told you that!!! : 0 lol!!! Well, back to the card, it is a simple, versatile, quick design and the images color up easily for a fun-ny Birthday gift.

*Here is the little girl version:

This design is a gift card/money holder. The front of the card uses this weeks Monday Freebie balloons that I colored with Prismacolors. Then I embossed the layered images with Kaleidoscope embossing powder to give them a sparkly shimmery sheen. The inside of the card has the little girl version of Empty Pockets popped up, across from the pocket flap that hides the gift card/money, with the first sentiment that says " . . . I've got nuthin'". Then when the flap is lifted it says ". . . Just kiddin'", and reveals the gift card/money. These images are sooo cute and versatile!

*

My SPECIAL CODE WORD is: DO , be sure to collect them all to complete the sentence.

Quilled Roses Magic Box

Hi all! Here is another Magic Box that I made for the Custom Quilling January DT. All of the card stock, paper and strips (except the green vellum and acetate) are included in the January kit. I stamped the design in clear embossing ink and kaleidoscope embossing powder to give it a "rainbow" effect on each panel inside and out of the box. It is hard to capture the color change of the stamped design but the pictures give you a little glimpse of it. The edges of the pink card stock are glittered with micro fine holo glitter for some bling.

The quilled flowers and pearl centered roses are revealed when the box lid is taken off and the side panels drop. They "dance" with the slightest movement of air. These little boxes are easy to make and the designs are endless! If you make one, post a link in the comments below to share, I'd love to see it!

Shalom,

Sonya

Comments welcome and very much appreciated as always! If blogger gets finiky when you post a comment just try again, it usually goes through!

Fred's Monday Freebie

Hi all! Back again to show you a card that I made from Tracey's Monday Freebie over at Fred She Said (blog) (Store). I printed the design, twice, out onto a creamy beige card stock to coordinate with the antique look of the designer papers. I colored the flower in a paint program and then cut out the full design with a scallop Nesti and then only cut out the flower portion of the design to layer offset on top. Red crystals accent the flower center and swirls. All the DP and card stock edges were inked with distress inks. This is the first card that I used the sewed layers on you see so much of nowadays. The scalloped layered panel sits upon ribbon loop accents. The inside of the card is decorated with the same stitched DP and cream scallop for writing upon.
*

Hop on over to Fred She Said to get your Monday Freebie! Be sure to keep checking back to see what new and exciting things will be happening (New Digi Images to be released, blog hops and challenges etc) with the Fred She Said Blog Team!

Will be back tomorrow to show you another Magic Box. This one features quilling! If you make a card or project from any Fred She Said image, post a link in the comment section to share! Or you can Join Paper Craft Planet, Fred She Said Group and chat with other Fredder's and post and share your FSS projects!

February Calendar Page

Hi all! Hope you had a nice New Year! Back to show you the January 2010 Custom Quilling Newsletter! The February calender page is just one of the projects that Sue and I created from this months Custom Quilling Kit (click on CQ Monthly Kit on the CQ site's sidebar). The kit has an abundance of pink and red quilling strips and a cute set of painted cards, envelopes and embellishments. There is enough pretty pink and red card stock and papers to make cute cards to send to special friends and family!
*

Hearts come to mind as the "theme" of February and I love the delicate and unusual Bleeding Heart flowers. I used one of the many shades of pink from the quilling strip pack to make the Bleeding Heart flowers on the calendar with the accent flowers from the rose and pink pearlescent paper. You could use another shade of pink or make it in red and use the white and red version of these delicate and detailed flowers.
*
Check out the January Newsletter to see the rest of my projects and the quilled "shade" that fits the new Glade flameless candles, the cutest purse note card holder and note cards (from the kit), and a truly awesome heart wall/door holiday decoration by Sue! Love her roses! Also, there is a link on the newsletter to the Custom Quilling Facebook page. Be sure not to miss the photo gallery, there are some amazing quilling projects posted by members!
*
The next post will be to show you another Magic Box, this time with quilling!
