Water Color Rose Card

Hi all, here is a card made from one of my new stamps. It is a mosaic stamp and the pieces actually match up but I wanted to mount them as individual vignettes. I watercolored them with Tombow markers and popped them up with dimensionals. The card is photographed in front of my rose garden that happens to have the same color roses in abundance!

The embossed DP was from a specialty paper pack and is layered onto the same yellow as the roses tips are. I inked it in yellow and pink to match. I love the vine ribbon and thought it would go nicely with the roses. Gold "pearls" are used as an accent on the base and on each corner of the rose panels. Finishing up is the bow made from a taffeta two tone wire edge ribbon that I purchased to make vintage ribbon flowers but since it was a perfect match, I guess I will have a few less ribbon roses!

I have a few projects that are in the line to be done and will post those as they are marked off the list! I also have a kit coming from Jerri K that is a card that incorporates the embossed cutout technique and when I finish I will post it also. Antique Quilling - Own a Piece of History

Hi all! You all know I love to quill and a chance to see the history of the art is a rare treat. I can't show you the picture on my blog due to it isn't mine, so I put a small teaser picture of a part of it. You will have to click on the link below to see a full size picture of a beautiful 1700th century quilled piece. The colors are still fairly vibrant and the intricacy and detail, and dimension are stunning. The person who created it also used what we now call "punched floral" but instead of using punches as we do today she cut and shaped each petal and leaf by hand. The owner has made a difficult decision to sell it and the contact, professional assessment, and a very brief history info is on the link below. I agree with Paula Bauer, whose site it is shown, that as with any piece of history, you can sit and wonder what was happening while the artist was twirling those little strips!

Quilling has changed through the years with style, color, design and paper changes, but you can see that there are still a continuity in technique and most of the flowers and scroll work are the same as today. I would have loved to sit with one of these expert quillers and learned her "secrets" of quilling! Calla Lily Sympathy Card

Hi all. We are going to be out of town the next few days and I wanted to get this one posted before we left. This is a sympathy card for family of family and I had to find a way to mail it without the dimensional elements getting crushed. The calla lilies are punched and formed. I didn't have my flower soft in yet so I used some of my quilling strips to make the stamens. The lily leaves are quilled and smaller punched flowers with pearl centers were added. The corner embossed cutouts are embellished with pearls and the sentiment is stamped and embossed in gold on vellum which is popped up. This embossed cut out design is similar to Jerri K's style and you can see her beautiful work on her blog, see side bar for link.

You will see these calla lilies again in a different color and with their flower soft stamens in another project soon to be posted! I can see my craft table now so I will be back to creating again when we return from our seaside getaway later this week. See you when we get back! Until then,

Short Post

Hi all,

Just a short post to let you know I am working on another keepsake invitation and have a sympathy card to post - as soon as I get it sent (The recipient might get it sooner if I post it)! I also have been trying to sort and organize my craft area, no easy task, so I can have room to actually work! My table had gotten down to about a card size spot! I have acquired a lot of DP and have it scattered in piles which doesn't make it easy to see what I have! Plus the numerous embellishments, quilled shapes awaiting a permanent place scattered on the table mixed in with the current projects stuff!!!! So I will post these projects, I promise, in the next day or so. Until then,

Mother's Day Card

Hi all! Happy Mother's Day to all who are a mother or those who are a spiritual mother showing love and giving encouragement to those who no longer have their mothers with them. This card has an embossed and cut out front panel. I stamped the image in gold and watercolored it with Tombow markers. This is going to be a short post as we have just gotten back from Nacogdoches and S.F.A. at the Big Dip ceremony. Our senior nursing student daughter Rachel dipped her "ax" (S.F.A. mascot is a Lumberjack) hand in purple dye and received her senior ring. We also loaded up the truck with some of her things from her dorm, which has grown exponentially since we took her there last August, so she won't have so much to move back home. I am very tired and tomorrow is going to be a busy day, so until the next post,

Punch Shelf for Mother's Day!

Hi all! Funny looking card you say! Well making them requires a lot of paper art supplies and I have a very small space to keep them in. I still have two college attending daughters in my 'some-day' craft rooms. Paper punches take up a lot of room and are heavy in plastic stacking drawers. I researched many different storage solutions for paper punches and decided on a shelf and I asked my DH to make me one. The problem with asking him to make me a storage solution, was that I had to lay them all out on the kitchen counter so that he could measure to make sure the shelf would be big enough to hold them and any more that I would acquire. That meant that he had to see ALL of them and that would cause me grief later when I said I "needed" more, YKWIM? Well no pain no gain!

I found a similar looking shelf on a forum and showed him what I wanted and voila, I have a beautiful shelf to hold all of my paper punches. The shelves are slanted downward and have a lip on the edge to hold the punches from falling off. The larger punches fit comfortably on the shelves and the smaller ones could be doubled on a shelf if needed. As you can see there is a lot more room for MORE punches!

My DH worked all day on it and I love my Mother's Day gift! My punches are neat and I can see them making it easier to grab the ones that I need. I will post a couple of cards that I have made tomorrow and Friday. Blessings to all who are Mothers and to those who will soon be! My mother has been gone for 36 years now. She would have loved to be a grandmother and I know my kids, and grandkids, would have loved her. I will continue the thoughts on Mother's Day on a later post, so until then,
